Swimming Lessons

As mentioned a few entries ago, Katy has started swimming lessons. Since she is still too young to be by herself, an adult has to go in with her. Gera had off for a week after he got back, so he was able to accompany her for a lesson allowing me to take pictures.

In the beginning of each lesson, they do warm up exercises. Here Katy is kicking, which she enjoys very much.

It is more a swimming class than lessons though. Here you can see that it is in a specially heated pool which is perfect for the kiddos. There are kids 4 months through 2 years in her class. It is a program offered through one of the neighboring suburbs community pool.

In the class they work on things such as kicking, the sensation of floating, going under water, and building the kid's self-confidence in the water. They also go over the safety exercise of what to do if they fall in. Each exercise is accompanied by a song, so we've also aquired some spanish songs to our limited repertoire.

Here they are at the end of the class and they are still smiling, so it must've been fun.
