As a kid you think that life goes by so slow and that you will never grow up. As an adult you wonder where does the time go. Each week seems to run into the other jointed by various different activities whether it be school events, church events, shopping, cleaning, birthday parties, baby and bridal showers or trips to the emergency room. It is never a dull one.
Of the last few the most exciting would probably be the one that was supposed to be the most relaxing. We woke up Saturday morning, Gera went to his church commitment and I went to the feria with the kids with a day of cleaning the house ahead of me. After weeding and trimming, then cleaning up after the girls, we went inside. As I was preparing supper, I hear this ear piercing scream coming from the bedroom. Rushing into the room, there is Katy on the bed and Elena crying holding her arm. As it turns out Katy had tried to pull Elena up on the bed. Well, Elena was crying and holding her right arm. I checked it for swelling and movement and everything seemed to be okay. She fell asleep so I figured that time would tell how her arm was. When she woke up she continued wimpering but there was still no swelling. After further debate we decided to take her to the hospital.
Upon arrival, we were rushed in right away since it was a bone issue they directed us to "ortepedia" where there were four interns just lounging around hoping for something to come in. As we approached the entrance they all perked up. As I explained what happend they all immediately jumped up, the first to reach us grabbed Elena's arm, did this twisting motion and then explained how she has dislocated her elbow. After a few minutes of holding it in place we got her to hold the cell phone and wave through tears at the doctor. We drove home relieved that it was something so simple.
That morning, it became apparent that there was still something wrong with her arm, so I took her in again. This time it was a little old man (he reminded me of an elf) who was so kind just popped it right back in. It was like magic, my little happy go lucky energetic girl was back. That was visit number two in less than 24 hours.
Cleaning up for supper later that night the girls are running around chasing each other when wham! Elena had tripped and knocked her mouth on the wooden step of the high chair. Of course there was blood everywhere and at a closer look she had cut her lip open on the top and the bottom as well as severed the flap of skin connecting her lip to her gums. Of course, wanting to make sure everything was okay, we packed her back up and headed to, you guessed it, the hospital again!
I was worried that since it was the third visit in 24 hours that we would get interviewed by social services or something, but we didn't. It was another quick in and out. The doctor said the teeth were fine and her lip would grow back. So far it's been two weeks and no more visits:)
Here are some pics of Trick or Treat Village at school as well as the girls just being themselves.
