Katy Lou has started to express her girly side. She love getting her hair done and sits so very still when the barrets are being put in. Don't expect her to keep the headband in though. She is also fascinated with jewlry. Now granted most babies enjoy pulling and tugging on mommy's earings and necklaces, but Katy shows an unique interest.
One afternoon, when I was playing with her on the couch after getting home from school, she was walking along the back of the couch when my green and brown dangly earings caught her attention. She got this "ooohh" face and came towards me with her finger out pointing to the "pretty", which is what I have dubbed them. She spent many minutes just pointing to them and showing this silly smile of joy in her face to be playing with the pretty. In the picture above, she is proudly wearing another of mommy's "prettys". Any time I have this particular necklace on she points to it, tugs it and plays with it until I put it on her. The first time I did so I thought she would tug it off or pull at it, but on the contrary she just smiled at me with this, thank you mommy, and then continued playing with the toys around her. Tonight she did the same and would crawl all over with her "pretty" on around her neck. She is truly turning into mommy and daddy's little princess.
To share a little more of the personality of our princess, she has now fear. Most kids, at least in my experience, don't like loud noises such as the vaccuum cleaner and usually run/crawl away from it. Katy actually does the opposite. As she sees me getting it out to vaccuum up her mess after eating, she gets super excited and starts crawling around in circles and then when it is turned on will come toward it to touch it. It makes it a little challenging for mommy to quickly clean up.
This lack of fear carries over into her approach to walking. She has no fear of falling and is actually getting really good at bending at the waist to land on her well padded behind. Each day her balance is getting better and better so that soon she will be one of the tiniest walking babies I'll have ever seen. By the way, she still hasn't grown out of her 6-9 month clothes, although they are shrinking a little.
I realize that I spend probably 95% of this blog on my daughter, so I thought I'd share some of the other news. The rain did stop today and the sun came out this morning! YEAH! I finished my Bible study with Naylene this week and we are planning on starting a new study written by our pastor. He developed a series of sevens in the Bible...7 baptisms, 7 eras, 7 misteries, 7 resurrections, 7 pacts, 7 sevens and 7 judgements. If you understand Spanish you can check them out at our church website...http://www.iglesia-del-este.com/
This last week I attended at professional development seminar which was veyr encouraging. I learned lots of new things about brain research as well as many new ideas to implement in the classroom. Gera is keeping busy with planning various different workshops all over Costa Rica as a follow up for the band seminar and festival that he produced in July. These two careers ocupy most of our time so that when we get home, we really enjoy our family time. Gera often comments about how boring life would be without Katy Lou. She is truly a blessing from God and daily we see his provision.

Hello Calderon's! I finally learned how to post comments. I love seeing all the pictures and videos of Katy growing up. Thank God for technology. We miss you!
The jewelry reminds me of Lily. When she was Katy's age I would have her sit on my lap while I would be looking at say catalogues. Well she would squeal and point at the jewelry on all the women. Too funny. Miss you!!!!!!!!!!
