Saying Good-bye

Unfortunately, the end of my parent's visit had to come. The last they went to relax in Hotel Bouganvillea near where I used to live in Santo Domingo. We spent their last afternoon here walking through the beautiful gardens on the hotel grounds. Here are some of the sights we took in.

The beautiful cactus flowers on the right, the woodpecker on the left, and some beautiful hanging flowers that I don't know the name of.

This is my favorite flower here in Costa Rica. I'm not sure what it is called, but I know it is an orchid and it's blooms last forever. They were in the front yard of the first house that I ever lived in down here.
There was a labyrinth in the gardens also. Katy Lou tried to guide Daddy out, but she didn't do the best job.

I suppose you could say that there was a alligator theme to the trip (look at the alligator from Mom and Dad's jogging trips in the morning). This alligator was in the botanical gardens behind the hotel. Of course we all got our picture with it.

I don't know if you've heard, but Katy Lou is a kisser. By that I mean that she kissed everything and everyone. She even kisses feet!! So, of course, we had to get a picture of her kissing the alligator. (Yes I'm ashamed to say that she gave/received her first kiss from a boy before she was one year old)

As the sun was going down, a nice man from Canada took a family picture. Katy was pretty hungry, so she didn't cooperate very well.

After dinner, our waiter, who fell in love with Katy Lou, gave her a flower. I'm not quite sure how to react seeing my one-year-old daughter getting flowers from men already, but it definately made her night. She really enjoyed playing "he loves me, he loves me not " with the pedals.

After a delicious dinner in the hotel restaurant, we went up to the hotel room my parents were staying in. Katy still walks a little slow, so Mommy and Grandma helped her out a little bit.

The weekend after Grandma and Grandpa left was very boring, but it provided for an oportunity to join Daddy where he goes skating. Katy brought along her bike and did some riding too.

What do you get when you cross rollerblading, football and Ticos?

Warning: Do not try this at home!

Hi Sara! I just have to comment on the kissing a boy at one years old. We always teased that Ashley was such a boy lover because she cornered a boy in the nursery when she was 4 years old. Katy is going to be quite the lovey girl! Hope you are all doing well. I am officially doing my student teaching. The kids are CRAZY! One kid has EBD and OCD and swears allll the time. I am in for a wild ride.
Miss you! And Katy is just soo precious! Can't wait until Christmas.

Hey Sara! Well, I got a job at Cedar Grove for summer school. I just wanted to say a big thanks for thinking of me for your previous position. I would have been thrilled to teach at Port and follow in your footsteps. I hope you all are doing well in Costa Rica. I just love watching the videos of Katy, she has such joyful personality. Have a great week!
