Enjoying the Tropics

On Friday, we all went over to Gera's parent's house for lunch. As usual, she cooked a delicious lunch and we all left stuffed. Katy's cousin, Genesis was over so they enjoyed playing outside together.
Check out those smiles!
On Saturday, we spent the whole day in the Orosi valley, starting at the Lankester Botanical Gardens, where there is a huge orchid exhibit.
One of the orchids in bloom was the Guaria Morada, the national flower of Costa Rica.
Are we in Arizona or Costa Rica?
The flowers below were some of the just some of the colorful displays we saw that morning. The small purple flower on the right is also an orchid. It is amazing how small those flowers are.

That night, Sara and Gera went out to celebrate their 3 year aniversary while Grandma and Grandpa got some bonding time with Katy Lou. She just loves being read to...book of the week is Frosty the Snowman.

Sunday was spent watching the playoff games (one in Spanish one in English) after church. Monday we got up early and drove to Playa Bejuco. As you can see below, it is not a very visited beach, but we really enjoyed it. Katy continues to show no fear of water and had a blast trying out her life vest.

When she wasn't in the water, she was hanging out with Grandpa.

Every morning, my parents would walk to the University for their morning run. This alligator was placed along the "route" and one of their favorite memories of the trip this year.
