We left for Monteverde, the national cloud forest reserve, Tuesday morning. The drive went well and was probably one of the bumpiest rides we've ever had in our life...at least that's what Mom and Dad said. The last hour was over a gravel road that had inumerable potholes.Katy weathered the ride very well, especially with that thumb. When we turned on the road that led to the preserve, the bridge was out so this is what we went through...

Wednesday we went to the Monteverde reserve...

We saw lots and lots of vegetation including 5 different kinds of mushrooms, about 20 different kinds of flowers and trees like the ones below.
We hiked up to the Continental Divide where the trees are limited in the height they can grow due to the strong winds. The trees up here are called a dwarf forest.
Mom and Dad at the Continental divide...behind us, all the rain that falls runs off into the Gulf of Mexico...
...in front of us all the water that falls, runs off into the Pacific. We also saw a pizote...not sure what it is called in English...which is part of the raccoon family.
Just outside the park there was a hummingbird cafe where there were about a hundred birds flying around. They are very good flyers and beautiful birds

The next day we went to the SkyWalk which was a guided tour through the rain forest canopy on 6 different suspension bridges.
