Our trip to the beach started with a foggy drive through the mountains to Dominical and our hotel, Costa Paraiso. Now that Katy Lou is potty trained, we brought along the little potty and took frequent stops for her to go pipi.

She loves to "drive" the car and constantly asks to go vroom vroom.

Our first dinner there was spaghetti. We had to be creative so that Katy was high enough to eat her meal.
The first night there, it was raining pretty hard. We spent about two hours with the lights turned off listening to the rain and taking crazy pictures. You can see some of them in the slide show below.

The next day we went to the waterfall that the hotel owners had told us about. It was so beautiful and such a blast.
Gera was the first to jump in and test the waters for us, but the rest of us eventually jumped in too.
There was also a tarzan rope to jump into the water if you wanted too. Only Emily and Gera had the courage to try it. It is quite the drop.
We lowered Katy down in her life preserver. The water was a tad cold for her, but she enjoyed swimming with Mommy.
Here are some more pictures of the trip.

Window Beach is a pedestrian beach only, which means that you can only get to it by walking. It is so beautiful with some caves to go through if you want to at low tide. We did go through, but the pictures didn't turn out because of the reflection of the flash on the mist in the darkness.

Katy had fun in the waves, playing in the sand and just being outside. She loved it. Now whenever she sees the ocean she points to it and goes "agua".

Our last night there we played some nertz. Of course I lost, but the best part was when Laura and Emily broke the cement bench when they tried to move it. Okay, they didn't really "break" it since the parts weren't attatched, but it sure was funny.

The drive home was a long one as usual. Katy was a little anxious for the last part of the trip, but we made it home fine Sunday afternoon.
The next day was Monday and my first day back to work. I left the girls at home with Katy and they had fun with both her and Katy eating...

...Katy's favorite, POPCORN!!

The next day they came to school with me and played with Katy while I was at meetings.

Of course, I also put them to work.

Emily was in charge of decorating the bulletin boards...

...and she also cut out all my new math centers.

Laura was in charge of decopaging (I have no idea if that is a word) my "made from recycled materials" caddies.

After two days of good help, the classroom appeared ready to go. Both Emily and Laura said they could totally see Krystin setting up her own classroom. Krystin, I highly recommend enlisting them to help you set your classroom up.
The last night, as seems to be a new tradition for last nights here in CR with family, we went to the VIP theater and saw "State of Play".

Then we rushed to pick Andres up and headed over to my in-laws house to watch the Costa Rica vs. Honduras game for World Cup elimination match.

The game was horrible, but we found other ways to entertain ourselves. Laura solved one of the brain teasers, but the funny thing is, she doesn't know exactly how she did it.

Andres loves kids and has an especially fun time with Katy. Here they are "jumping".

Our last night was a late one for Katy, who fell asleep in her aunt's willing arms.
It was so nice to have Emily and Laura here for two weeks. I miss them lots. Katy still asks for them every once in a while. Take care girls and come again soon. We'll see you in December!
