Bailey Bath

Our weekends have been filling up quickly as the holidays approach. About a month ago I started tutoring the daughter of a former colleague in math every Saturday morning. Not 3rd grade math, but high school math! It's brought back memories and also challenged my math skills again because it's in Spanish. (By the way, Emily, I'm going to be needing your help on somethings during break...functions in particular.)

Now that Gera has a more regular work schedule, he has been able to get more involved with church activities. Last weekend there was an evangelism event in one of the more dangerous neighborhoods of Limón, the large port city on the Atlantic coast. It was an all day event which he said was very rewarding.

He's also been busy with a discipleship class (How to Study the Bible), math class on Thursday nights, Spanish class on Friday mornings, side job of decorating businesses and banks for Christmas, and his two part-time jobs with the wood plantation and Operation Mobilization.

Last weekend was also Daniela's birthday party. Dani is Daniel's (Gera's brother) girlfriend's daughter. She turned 7 years old and is really sweet with Katy. At Aya's house, they often draw, color and play together.
Katy's getting pretty good at feeding herself with her fork, although she still prefers her fingers. Then again, what toddler doesn't prefer using their fingers:)? Aya and Cesar also accompanied us to the birthday party.
One of Katy's favorite weekend activities is "Bailey bath". She absolutely loves helping me give Bailey a bath. Due to former experiences, I've learned a few lessons about appropriate clothing.
Here she is all dressed up and ready for "Bailey bath". She even helped me gather all the equipment needed for the bath. Having grown up with big, hairy dogs, bathing Bailey is not that much of a challenge. To avoid getting soap on the camera, I don't have any suddsy pictures, but Katy helps rub the shampoo in Bailey's fur and helping to pour the water to rinse.

I tried to take some after pictures of the two of them sitting next to each other, but Katy would pop up before the flash was done. These are the two best efforts I got.

Baby news...doing fine. The evening sickness seems to have receded into our past memories as I finish my 14th week. The belly has done the opposite and the maternity clothes have been brought out. It's amazing how the second pops out so much quicker than the first:) School keeps me busy, but I'm really enjoying my kids this year. It's really nice to teach the same grade various years in a row. You really get to know your material and what to expect from the kids. However, we're all counting down the days to Thanksgiving and a break from the fast pace of life.

Next big event - Katy's 2-year birthday!
