We had the priviledge of spending the afternoon with some new friends of ours. Of course, I didn't get pictures of Sue (the mom) and all three of her kids, but Katy thuroughly enjoyed her afternoon of playing in the park.
The first time we came to this park, she was too small to climb up by herself, but now she goes up and down almost like the monkey that she is. She even goes up the sailors net on the other side. It was the first time I've been able to just sit and let her climb by herself, most of the time anyway.
When it started to rain, we took the playdate inside and then later enjoyed some ice cream. It was the first time Katy had a whole cone by herself. She did pretty good for the most part, but I did get a few extra clean up licks;)
Saturday morning we got up early to go to the feria for our weekly fruits and vegetables. While there, Katy found two leaves, I think they are pineapple leaves, and told me "mommy, I'm flying". She then proceeded to "fly" through the rest of the feria and all the way home (it's only one block away from the house).
Like most busy moms that hang their wash out to dry in the warm summer air but don't have time to fold it right away so it is promptly placed in a pile on the couch, I do that even more now with two kids. I was cleaning up after supper when I turn around to see my little girl had completely undressed herself and was putting on mommy's swimming suit. It was too cute, I couldn't resist, so I helped her put it on in a way decent enough to take and publish a picture. She put the swim cap on by herself though.
I'm still trying to get a smile picture from Elena, but no luck. This is the closest I've come and I must say that I'm not too impressed with the results.
I heard from Gera yesterday by email. He was getting ready to board a train to the next city, Kachhwa, where they will be working in another school and hospital. The team will be holding workshops for the kids, visiting and praying with the hospital patients and doing other jobs to help out the missionaries there. He's been gone for almost two full weeks now and it has been such a blessing to see how God has provided for us. I thought that it would be very lonely and difficult to be here without him, but God has shown that we really have been blessed with good friendships here. He's also given me the independence I've needed to do errands or even just to get out and have fun.

Love, love, love the swimsuit story! It was just what I needed in the midst of a grad school afternoon! :)
