I had parent teacher conferences, so Katy only had a half day of school and got to go home early. Gera has off Wednesday afternoons, so he put his plan into action.
First he put the girls to work making a "card" for mommy. Katy concentrated real hard, while Elena just played. (notice my child's perfered way to sit - hurdle stretch)

Then, they made a cake together. It was Gera's first experience baking and I must say, it turned out very well.

Then they got all dolled up and surprised me with a nicely set table and dinner already made!

After the delicious dinner, we had the cake - yes it is in a bread pan - with "lots of birthday candles mommy". Katy helped me blow them all out.

All in all, it was a very nice day. Later that week we had some friends over for a potluck dinner and some more delicious cake. Not bad for 32.
Now that things have slowed down and settled more into a routine, I've had a chance to get some pics of the girls just hanging out and playing. They love having all their toys out all day and have rediscovered some of them which has made for some extra cleaning, but I just love watching them interact with each other more and more each day.
Elena is starting to show parciality in her favorite toys. Her favorite book is Mirror Me by Baby Einstein. She loves to play with the play necklaces and adores taking anything out of a bag/box/basket. Her other favorite is anything with music, whether it is listening to it, dancing to it or making it.
Katy continues to love reading, playdough, coloring and using her very vivid imagination. Every day she surprises me with how big she is and how much she can do by herself. She was a real trooper this last week with the chicken pox. Thanks to the vaccination, she didn't suffer too much, but she sure did itch. Now we are just waiting for Elena to come down with it.
