Life Without Techonology

So, just as I was getting everything set and the routine going with blogging again it happened. For those of you who haven't already heard - Easter Sunday night we were peacefully sleeping in our beds when BANG, BANG, SNAP, POW suddenlly woke us from our dreams. There were flashes of light outside the window and Gera hugs me close and tells me to get to the floor. It sounded like there was a shoot-out going on outside our window. After a few more seconds it stops, but we notice that there is no light on anywhere. We go to the living room and notice a burned smell (the TV). Upon opening the door, we discover that one of the high tension highwires had snapped causing an electrical surge and blowing a nearby transformer! A neighbor had reported electrical problems to the electric company, but they had not checked it out/fixed it and our midnight adventure was the result.

Upon waking up in the morning, we were stock of our losses - TV, DVD, CPU (even though it was plugged into a surgre protector), cable modem, and our wonderful coffeemaker! As you can imagine, this has made our life a tad more simple. We find ourselves in bed before 9pm often and learned to make coffee the old-fashioned way - choreado!! After three frustrating weeks of starting the loss claim process, we supposedly have everything turned in, now we are just waiting for them to send someone in to evaluate our case.

We do have internet again, but have to use Gera's work computer which we only have access to a few days a week. The other negative is pictures - or lack there of - since there is no place to download them on. We are trying our best so please be patient.

A quick synopsis:

Katy - recovered from chicken pox, had her first Open House at school where she proudly showed Mommy and Daddy all her work,

Elena - turned one Saturday, survived chicken pox and croup, walks along furniture and walls but refuses to walk by self, tries to communicate using sounds and guestures, loves to read and eats almost anything

Gera - returned safely from Nicaragua, working hard

Sara - only four weeks of school left, anticipating vacation:)

Hoping to get some pics up soon - we are celebrating Elena's bday next weekend since she was sick for her real one.
