Jump Katy, Jump!!!

We've been trying to get Katy used to the idea of having her hair in barrets, but she isn't very tolerant of them.

Here is our best attempt which she left in for about half an hour. We've bought her some special rubberbands now which are really hard to get out so she is getting used to having her hair in ponytails or pigtails. Pay attention to various of the following pictures an videos to our hairstyle attempts.

After finally unpacking the first week of May, we had to move everything out of the two bedrooms because the land lady agreed to change the carpets. They were very damaged and it was making the house smell moldy and just nasty. Gera's uncle Jose came and laid the ceramic tile in two days! They worked so fast.

Tio Jose laying down the tile in Katy's closet.

David laying the first tile in our bedroom.

The finished product in our bedroom. They had to cut out the bottom of the closet which turned out to be rotton due to a small bug called comejen which is like a termite. Needless to say, one of the upcoming projects is a new closet in our room.

While they were waiting for the tile to dry, they got a chance to take Katy outside and ride her car down the driveway.

We had the priviledge of having two student teachers at school these last two weeks. They came down through the same student teaching overseas program that I came down with. They are Lydia, from Alabama, and Alaina, and MK from Ecuador. It has been such a blessing to get to know them and spend time with them. Their last night in the San Jose area they came over to play cards and hang out with Katy Lou.

Here Alaina is reading books to Katy who was proudly showing off the new floor in her room and her collection of books (which are all over the floor).

Katy also invited them into her cardboard house we have set up in the living room.

She really enjoys just sitting in her house or playing "boo" in it. She was in a great mood the other night and has really developed her laugh.

Last weekend we also had the priviledge of celebrating the birthday of a longtime family/friend of Gera's. Katy enjoyed playing with the girls.

Especially when the big girls let her hold the jumprope.

It inspired her to jump pretty much anywhere now and is her new talent.

Girl hair is hard when they're babies! Megan's was always half in a ponytail and half in a rats nest! The tile looks great. We put some in our house in Utah a while back and it definitely took longer than two days so kudos to the uncles! What part of Alabama is your friend from? We are only about 30 minutes from the state line. You've got a lot going on! Life sounds good:)
