Elena is One Month

It's hard to believe that Elena is one month already. Time flies by so fast...school is out, summer vacation has started, the days are longer (especially for those further north), and the world cup as started.

After recovering from the first two weeks of being sick, we've finally started to settle into a very flexible routine. Katy has taken well to her sister, although she is a little jealous of mommy. We try to do things with her alone though so she doesn't feel left out. Physically I'm starting to feel more normal again, going to wait a little longer on the marathon training though:)

We've enjoyed time as a family as well as with friends. We took Elena out for her first trip to her grandparents to meet her uncles. Katy enjoyed the time spent with them too. Elena got her ears pierced (at 2 weeks) and has recovered marvelously from the tramautic experience:)

We took Elena out for her first trip to get ice cream. When we told Katy to get ready, she came out with her "snow hat" on and had the baby in one hand. As we were getting Elena ready and in her carrier, Katy also packed her baby's diaper bag. We just couldn't resist a picture.

The first weekend in June there was a OM team picnic at an overlook of the beautiful Orosi Valley. As always, it brought back memories of my very first year here in Costa Rica.
There have been some new members added to the team over the past few months, so it was a good time of fellowship. If it was a little more organized, I'd try to say who is who, but to avoid the confusion, try to find us:)

I may have mentioned that rainy season has started. Katy has taken the oprotunity to use her umbrella which she is now old enough to use. She loves going out in the rain (of course when there is no lightning) and does a pretty good job of staying under the umbrella. Don't ask about the dry part though:)

As I mentioned in the beginning of this entry, the World Cup has started. For those of you who don't follow soccer (which I imagine is the majority) it is being hosted in South Africa this year. One of the OM team members who is here learning Spanish, Clint, is from South Africa. To help him celebrate the opening, we all got together for a South African/Mexican breakfast since South Africa was playing against Mexico for the opening game. From South Africa we had "pub" - a corn mush - topped with "chakalaka" - a tomato based sauce - while the mexican part was represented with some "huevos rancheros" - a fried egg on top of a fried corn tortilla topped with another tomato based sauce. All very tasty and no complaints. We all watched the game as we enjoyed our food.
Gera was applauding a good S.A. play (guess who we were cheering for) with our friend and leader, Alex, watched the game with their daughters.
