Book Week

Last week was book week for Katy's school (she's in the preschool and I'm in the elementary). Each day they had different activities that had to do with the theme: The Magic School Bus.

The last day was dress up as your favorite character day. Katy said right away that she wanted to dress up as Ms. Frizzle. Oh boy, I thought, how are we going to make a Ms. Frizzle costume. Well, throughout the week I just mulled over the idea. Thursday night, I was sitting on the couch still seeking some inspiration when it caught my eye, the bright red, multi-colored sweater scarf that a friend had given me. Perfect! The rest is for the books...

Getting ready that morning

Elena wanted to get in on the fun too. Notice the hair.

Our Ms. Frizzle, the shapes model. Her bun even stayed in all day!

Also, part of book week is the chance for the kids to write their own books. After a week of effort, here is the final product. She dictated the words to me, I typed and then she did the illustrations all by herself.

We took a video of her reading it, but it was too long to load onto the page. So instead I've utilized my teacher tools to make it an Little Bird Tales e-book that we can share with you.

Click on the picture in the link, wait for it to load, and enjoy!
